Winter Weather Advisory EndsFebruary 4th, 2014 at 2:04 pm by Bill Steffen under Bill's Blog, Weather
12:55 pm Weds. 22″ of snow on the ground in G.R., that’s the most since 1979. The record is 27″ after the blizzard of Jan. 26, 1978. There may be a few lingering flurries this PM, but the snow is pretty much over. We should see breaks and thin spots in the clouds. Winter Weather Advisory has expired (it will run until 4 PM for counties that border Indiana). Here’s the Tues. morning NAM (caribou) and GFS (caribou) forecast snow totals: Grand Rapids 4.1″, 4.2″…Lansing 5.1″, 4.4″…Muskegon 3.9″, 2.4″…Kalamazoo 5.8″, 5.9″…Jackson 7.7″, 4.8″…Pontiac 6.5″, 5.0″, Big Rapids 3.2″, 2.4″, Mt. Pleasant 4.6″, 2.9″, S. Haven 4.8″ (NAM only), Holland 4.2″ (NAM only). Those numbers weren’t too bad…looks like the reports we have are 2-5″ with the least in Oceana and N. Newaygo Counties.
Here wave clouds (Kelvin-Helmholtz clouds) in E. Germany last weekend. A summary of record temperatures in January.
