Severe Weather Outlooks

April 4th, 2014 at 1:29 am by under Bill's Blog, Weather

1630 UTC Day 1 Outlook 1630 UTC Day 2 Outlook 1630 UTC Day 3 Outlook These are the severe weather and (in green) General Thunderstorm Outlooks  from the Storm Prediction Center for today (Fri.), tomorrow and Sunday.  Today there is a chance of severe weather from the Ohio River  to Southern Mississippi.  It’s for mainly wind damage and the possibility of hail.  Lower Michigan is in the General Thunderstorm Outlook (too cool for anything other than small hail, though winds could gust to 30-40 mph along and behind the cold front.

Storm Team 8 will be tracking the system. Check the blog for updates from me and the astute, knowledgeable commentators who fortunately for me occasionally lurk here in my little corner of cyberspace even when I’m not here.

      True dat total waste

    2. Nathan (Forest Hills) says:

Im just going to ignore them and be a civil person like everyone should be on a professional weather blog. Maybe people should talk about the weather, such as the upcoming ice event.

      1. Larry of Hastings, barry co says:

        I agree with you.

You know what they say – imitation is the highest form of flattery! fixxxer and his band of ridiculous aliases are paying me the highest compliments! I love it!

  6. INDY says:

No school tomorrow why not winter I mean spring break starts Friday!! INDYY!!

    1. Dan says:

If no school tomorrow then, spring break starts tomorrow. How ironic is that?

      1. Rocky (Rockford) says:

+ 100 trillion! SNOW DAY on Spring break!!!!!!!!

        1. Alice (Cedar Springs) says:

  7. Dan says:

Looks like GR and points north, freezing rain. I’m not looking forward to this as I have to drive in the morning. Please snow or plain rain! Sounded like the NWS was in debate about posting the headline for an ICE STORM. A degree or two is going to make all the difference. Now, sounds as if freezing temps will be here for a good part of the day. Keep in mind that you don’t need temps below freezing to have freezing rain. It all depends what the surface temps are and what the precip falls through. It is a little bit different of a dynamic than snow! It may sound basic. However, according to some posts it is clear that some do not understand that! BE SAFE!

  8. Dan says:

This is a fantastic blog! Last I checked people could post about anything or everything that they wanted. Thanks, Bill!

    1. Rocky (Rockford) says:

      Who knew?

  9. Nathan (Forest Hills) says:

So we have thunderstorms along the border, ice from 1-96 north, and up to a foot or more of snow in the UP… I’m pretty sue Michigan is going to be the craziest state the next few days. I cant wait to see the Tigers tomorrow. Do you think it will be delayed?

    1. steven (Derby Lake) says:

I could see them making a double header the next time they have a home series with KC. Now the next series with Baltimore we’ll have to wait and see.

      1. Nathan (Forest Hills) says:

I thought Nathan pitched pretty poorly in the ninth inning today… which is pretty upsetting because he has the same name as me lol. Im thinking that Detroit will play better than KC in the cold tomorrow though because we are so used to it. Or isn’t that how it works…

        1. Brian (Grandville) says:

KC will be Detroit’s biggest challenge in the division for the next few years. They are a young team that is getting better every season.

        2. steven (Derby Lake) says:

KC has a rookie starting against Sanchez tomorrow. KC needed that win today.

        3. steven (Derby Lake) says:

I’m not to worried about KC, I have faith that they will re-sign Max. As long as they have Max, Verlander and Sanchez as starters they are in pretty good shape. One thing Detroit has is deep pockets to buy when they need to and KC doesn’t.

    2. Larry of Hastings, barry co says:

I am ready to rock n roll…it’s going to be a wild ride here in Michigan.

      1. Rocky (Rockford) says:

ROCK n ROLL will never die baby!

  10. John (Norton Shores) says:

Well I see ice is still in the forecast :( but on the bright side it will change to rain later tomorrow melting any of the ice on roads and trees, timing does not look good either, the freezing rain could affect the morning commute.

  11. Rocky (Rockford) says:

Any guesses on school closings in Ottawa, Muskegon and Kent county? I say it is about 50/50 at this point!

    1. John (Norton Shores) says:

Depends on the starting of the freezing rain, if it starts around 4-5am as they are currently predicting I would say there is a decent chance but if it starts around 7am most schools if not all will be open, IMHO

      1. Nathan (Forest Hills) says:

        We don’t have school… spring break…

    2. steven (Derby Lake) says:

Come on Rocky, give Montcalm county some love ;)

      1. Rocky (Rockford) says:

Yes, Montcalm county is probably the leader in the clubhouse when it comes to the most SNOW days! Amazing!

        1. steven (Derby Lake) says:

I’m not sure what the totals are for some schools as of late. If I hear or see, I’ll post it.

        2. Larry of Hastings, barry co says:

Ionia county schools/Barry County schools called school off a lot.

    3. Paul m says:

      None in West Michigan HYPE

    1. Rocky (Rockford) says:

The blog is on fire today! The only person bringing down the blog is fixxxer and his band of aliases! Just typical classless fixxxer! Who knew?

  14. What horrible timing with this weather. I get to enjoy Freezing Rain and Rain on my birthday which is tomorrow, yeehaa….not! Last year on my birthday was an exact replica of what we had today. Sunny and pleasant.

    1. John (Norton Shores) says:

      Happy early Birthday Kyle! :)

      1. Thanks John! I think its ironic my birthday is on a day that produced some of the biggest tornadoes and destruction right here in Michigan.

        1. Larry of Hastings, barry co says:

          Happy Birthday

    2. Eileen (Hesperia) says:

      Happy Almost Birthday Kyle :)

VERY Nice CORT…. Love your Links. Any GUESSES on When Your HOME State ( M.I.)….. Will Get Some Good ole THUNDERBOOOMS & Lighting ZOOOMS.. I personally thought we would have had SOME by NOW. Stay Cued….. ;-)

      1. Cort S. says:

You’ve got a decent shot of hearing thunder tomorrow, but after that, you’ll have to wait at least another week.

    2. Wswplz says:

That is a nice setup and I didn’t know one could do that , I’m guessing you subscribe to a pay site. I’m going to have to join the paying club so I have a better chance of getting on some storms this year, I bet I could justify the cost just in gas savings alone.

  16. Brian (Grandville) says:

Red Wings beat the beast of the east tonight!

    1. Jack says:

      YAY….. LOVE IT…..

  17. Jerry hoag says:
