holy chit. that link with the wind driven hail. broke the siding right off the house

    1. DarrenSVRstm ( Cedar S ) says:

Just looked at that , wow that is crazy , one wouldn’t want to be caught walking in that storm in an open area.

      1. GunLakeDeb says:

Hail does incredible damage….We’re so lucky that we don’t often get the big-sized hail….

    2. Jordan (Twin Lake) says:

      Chit = fixxxer

  5. Well those storms out west were cool. I think I am getting my mom to like storm chasing now. I had a big in depth conversation about it with her today out to lunch. She wishes she was there too! Lol storm chasing is in my families blood!

    1. DarrenSVRstm ( Cedar S ) says:

Take mom out in the ” KLP ” storm chasing machine and really get her hooked . :) . ( KLP? )

      1. She was jelous of my chase in Nebraska 2 weeks ago! She wants to go along with next time which I forsure will. But the KRP Tracking Machine is always ready on call! I can’t tell you how many storms Ive chased in my car. Ive got hail dents to prove it lol

        1. DarrenSVRstm ( Cedar S ) says:

Sorry KRP I got it now…hehehe. No storm chasing vehicle is complete without hail damage , that’s like the Mystery Machine without mysteries to solve…..Scooby doooby doooooo!!

  6. DarrenSVRstm ( Cedar S ) says:

On a side note I love talking about SVR weather no matter where it is , but I really would like to have some solid action around here one time this year . I will preface my statement with I wouldn’t want damage or harm brought on anyone , however I’m just be honest .

    1. I love Severe Weather Too! Its my favorite topic. I would never wish damage or injuries but I love big storms! As for chasing Ill do that all my life. Ive been chasing when I was sick with the flu! LOL! thats commitment

      1. DarrenSVRstm ( Cedar S ) says:

It’s funny how when there are storms a callin one always feels just a little bit better…lol. That adrenaline works wonders…

    2. John (Norton Shores) says:

Acculess has a couple chances of severe weather for the area in the next couple weeks, but as we know that will change 50 more times before those days actually happen!

  7. Cliff(KZOO) says:

Watching the storm chasers on the cell west of Madison Nebraska, talk about crazy looking clouds. All I can say is wow over and over. Hope to never see anything like that here.

  8. Mark (East Lansing) says:

Thanks for all the links, Bill. Just incredible.

  9. John (Norton Shores) says:

Greg Forbes just said a derecho is likely.

  10. INDY says:

      Nice,Thanks CORT !! U Still in M.I. .??? ;-)

      1. Cort S. says:

I’m in northwest North Dakota right now. I’ll be back in MI sometime this summer.

  11. DarrenSVRstm ( Cedar S ) says:

I kinda like this product form the SPC. I’ve used recently to get an idea to where storms might develop as you can see 7 products in one ovation. This mode however is a look at reflectivity more specifically the SSEO at 1 KM REFL40. , maybe Cort can weigh in to better explain. :) . Btw – Hello Cort.

    http://www.spc.noaa.gov/exper/sseo/sseonew12.php?run=20140603&cycle=12&sector=19&id=3NPR-1KM-REFL40

    1. DarrenSVRstm ( Cedar S ) says:

      * You may need to hit the start button btw near the top left…:)

      1. DarrenSVRstm ( Cedar S ) says:

One can also change the sector they wish to look at.

        http://www.spc.noaa.gov/exper/sseo/sseonew12.php?run=20140603&cycle=12&sector=20&id=3NPR-1KM-REFL40

        1. DarrenSVRstm ( Cedar S ) says:

So you can see what might be headed towards South-West Lower Mi , just clipping it. Press start to begin forecast.

    2. Cort S. says:

That map shows the probability of a location seeing 40+ dBZ radar reflectivity (generally strong enough to indicate convection/thunder) during a 3-hour time step. The probability is derived from an ensemble of 7 different flavors of WRF models.

      1. DarrenSVRstm ( Cedar S ) says:

Thank Cort…, what’s the weather like where you are.?

        1. Cort S. says:

Was mostly sunny with highs in the 70s. Now cirrus overcast thanks to the convection to my south.

  12. Darrekk(near downtown GR) says:

I have a friend in Omaha and she says that they have already had 3 inches of rain and the winds have not been that bad as of yet.

    1. DarrenSVRstm ( Cedar S ) says:

Thanks for that update as I haven’t talked to any of my extended family in that area…! Going to call my Aunt in a bit as she lives in Omaha of 72 somewhere , but that is a long long street…lol

  13. Going to Lake Michigan for a sunset tonight! Should be good!

    1. DarrenSVRstm ( Cedar S ) says:

How far are you from the lake Kyle? I’ve only been there in the winter , but I’ve been wanting to go for a while since I miss the ocean and form what I can tell it’s basically a fresh water ocean /’beach….lol

      1. I’m about 25 miles from it. Can get there is 25-35 mid depending on traffic in Hollad

        1. Mins* right now were just in Zeeland

  14. John (Norton Shores) says:

Quite surprised that storm near David City NE is not tornado warned, defiantly has strong rotation on it with a couplet.

    1. Cort S. says:

I didn’t see a gate-to-gate couplet on that; there was zero velocity separating the velocity maxes. Looked more like a squall line shear zone. Also, in the low-reflectivity area ahead of the storm, there is a significant velocity processing error, which is very interesting from a radar standpoint.

  15. John (Norton Shores) says:

Omaha airport closed for two hours due to 2-3 feet of water at the airports entrance!

  16. David (NE GR ) says:

Was driving back on 196 north a few years back and it was raining and hailing so hard south of Holland, road was slick with hail and rain and dents in my hood. Was storm chasing without even trying.

  17. INDY says:

No fans tonight just 50 degree sleep all night weather!!! Thanks Canada!! INDYY!

  18. John (Norton Shores) says:

OMG, 100MPH winds will do significant damage! WOW this is quite the storm
