Park Party!!!

June 26th, 2014 at 3:11 am by under Bill's Blog, News, Weather

maranda Today was the first Maranda Park Party. It was at Lamar Park in Wyoming.  Park Parties are from noon to 2 PM, but come early. There’s a free (well, thank you taxpayers, it’s USDA) lunch for anyone 18 and under and lots of other free food (apples, ice cream, cheese curls, candy and more). There’s also the free entertainment, lots of prizes, rides, the climbing wall, games and fun. We’ll have lots of giveaways from the stage, including dozens of t-shirts. The weather should be good, mid-upper 70s and partly sunny skies.  I think they have a splash pad there, so bring your suit if you like.   Check out Maranda’s facebook page.   This is the 20th year of FREE Park Parties…parking is free, too.

  2. Rodey (Rockford) says:

Since Sat.,(6-21)G.R. has not had a day where the temps averaged below average. You’ve just confirmed that Rocky and you are one in the same. Who knew?

Next week by looking at most of the models except the GFS are showing alot of energy with this system coming up and over the central ridge. One model shows a 100 kt speed max and 4500 joules and lifted indexes near -10. By reading most of the midwest National Weather Services long range discussions/storm prediction center we might be looking at a widespread damaging line of storms. Like I’ve been saying timing is going to be key and most models have all this coming together at the right time of energy during the day. Will have to see how the storms develop/do upstream the day before but an awful lot of energy with this system for sure. Hopefully not but to me it looks like a prolonged period of cleanup and power outages lasting past the 4th of July holiday as many trees are weak and wouldn’t take much to bring them down.

Always appreciate the forecast Kevin , but calling for clean up in our area before there is even a forecast for it might be a bit early. The speed max you speak of is not for our area attm unless I’m mistaken , but day 5 ( Monday – Tuesday ) could develop into something for our area if things do come together as you mention. Always enjoy reading your thoughts on weather , I think it would help however if you were a little more specific then next week , like a 1-3 day window instead of any day . :)

  4. Looks like as of now, June will go out like a lion here in West Michigan. We could get some pretty good thunderstorms around this area. Still several days to narrow down the forecast though. We could even get some severe storms but I will not put my confidence to high until it arrives.

  5. Travis (Oakland County) says:

Only one below average day in the last 10, and here comes the heat

poor rocky just pulling at what little strings he can find. I bet you don’t even know how to interpret this map, do you?
Fact is this month has been absolutely wonderful. We have only had 5 below average days and we are currently running around 1.5 degrees above average.
I remember a post Bill did at the start of the month saying June will be below average, pretty sure I made a comment that a lot can change. For a rare time the chief was wrong.

      1. Cliff(KZOO) says:

Bill said June will NOT be a hot month, so I take back what I said above, I had to go look at the post to see. But June was a warm month for sure.

    3. matt says:

Who knew…warm and humid this weekend, and more hot and humid days to come…who knew there’s no mini-ice age…who knew we’ll be having a light winter this year….who knew rock n roll is dead….not you :)

    1. Bnoppe says:

      Dangerous here or in Milwaukee?

  9. Mike(Shepherd, Mi) says:

There is also a tornado threat here but not that extrene. Being 4 days out small changes in timing and location of features could give us that scary tornado possibility. We need to keep an eye on the weather because it could be the big weather event for the season.
