Trees coming down and power flashes in Schoolcraft (KALAMAZOO COUNTY)

  2. SBPortage002 says:

I am lucky my power stayed on through this thing. seeing bright lightning strikes still. Breathtaking.

  3. John says:

I think they ought to maybe think about sounding the sirens on this one… Seeing that rotation on the radar worries me.

    1. SBPortage002 says:

Yeah, this is a serious storm for sure. Unlike the last one this one is maintaining strength. Looks like warning possible across the I-94 corridor and south thru the state.

    2. tinainvbcounty says:

Still wondering why I haven’t gotten a single text alert yet. May have to sign up for a backup one. Is anyone else getting them from wood?

      1. SS (Pwell Area) says:

I am…just got one for Kzoo extension until 4am.

        1. tinainvbcounty says:

Guess I will have to do some checking…I’ve been getting them for Van Buren, Allegan, and Kalamazoo until tonight.

  4. Amanda says:

How can you tell something is rotating on radar? where are you talking about?

  5. Zach says:

New watchbox for SE MI, and Ohio

    Our watch extended until 4am

  6. SBPortage002 says:

Well, it is winding down here, just some lightning, thunder and light/moderate rain for awhile, but the worst is over. Guess i will head to bed in a bit.

    1. SS (Pwell Area) says:

Yup. Had a few house shakers.

  7. Tim (Walker) says:

Still getting lightning and thunder here.

  8. Kevin (Marshall) says:

Power blinking and the storm isn’t here yet.

  9. Bnoppe says:

Wow bill has BOLD text has to be serious

    1. Tim (Walker) says:

    2. SBPortage002 says:

This is the severe event of they year. Just too bad it came at the expense of power lines and trees blown down.

      1. SBPortage002 says:

        of THE year..

  10. Brenda Cowels (Otsego) says:

It was a great light show. Glad we didn’t get the winds here.

  11. Jeff (Richland) says:

    This is awesome!!!!

  12. Kevin (Marshall) says:

    Taking shelter. Sirens going off.

  13. Thunderwing (KZOO) says:

Man that storm was shocking! Still have the disco light show going! When the sustained wind struck, I ran to the basement because it sounded too much like a tornado. Storm of the year I agree with you on that SBPortage002

  14. Zach says:

Schoolcraft Fire is reporting roads impassible

  15. Kevin (Marshall) says:

Lost two trees in yard from the winds. Estimated 75 to 80 just south of Marshall.

    1. Cort S. says:

Good estimate. The AWOS at the airport measured 74 mph.

    2. Jack says:

Bill,, Said The same Thing about Kevin LIVE on Wood TV 8 !! Anyone Hav a Link for Police Dept. In the EFFECTED Areas ?? Pass it along I u Would please

  16. Jeff (Richland) says:

No damage here but awesome thunderstorms!!

  17. John says:

Gotta say I’m not too impressed with the village. Granted we’re just south of the polygon but it is still a tornado warning for Calhoun County and they have not sounded the sirens. Only thing I can think of is that maybe the power is out and the sirens are not working.

    1. tinainvbcounty says:

Gobles doesn’t even have a siren….ridiculous if you ask me!

  18. Andrea (Homer) says:

No sirens here yet, woken up by the emergency notification buzzer on the phone, man is that loud!

  19. Don (Battle Creek) says:

Still have power where I am, but nearly lost it due to high winds (near/around 60 mph). 74 mph wind gust in Marshall. Quite a light show with the lightning-had to move away from the window at times, it was that frequent. Extremely heavy rain as well

  20. Bnoppe says:

Powerful winds tonight in Albion 60-70 easy spend about 30 mins in the basement feeling lucky the power is still on feeling like some clean up will be needed though

    1. John says:

Hopefully damage in Albion isn’t to the extent it was after that storm last September. My daughter dual enrolled at the college and was off class for two days while they cleaned up.

  21. John says:

Severe thunderstorm & tornado warnings are over.
It’s funny how animals are much more in tune to the weather than we are. My dog was laying at my feet and suddenly bolted upright and went rocketing down the stairs. Seconds later was an extremely bright flash of lightning and a thunder clap that shook the house. Power has flashed a few times but held on through the entire storm.

    1. tinainvbcounty says:

Weve got a Siamese cat that really started meowing loudly just before and during.

  22. Kevin (Marshall) says:

Called the sheriff dept to report that my tree is partially blocking our road. They said they would get to it as soon as they can but they are still busy trying to get people out who are trapped in their homes.

    1. John says:

I’ve got to be in Marshall tomorrow evening. Does it look like I’ll have trouble getting around?

      1. Kevin (Marshall) says:

I haven’t ventured out (other than my yard). Sheriffs department is swamped so I’m guessing it’s a big mess out there.

    2. Jack says:

Kevin do u have a Broadcastify LINK , For Police or Fire in Your AREA ?? If so PlzShare Txs Staying CUEDD

      1. Kevin (Marshall) says:

        No. I wish I did.

  23. Mark (East Lansing) says:

It just left here. We were just on the northern edge and we lucked out. Not a ton of rain, and wind no higher than 20-25 mph. Awesome, constant lightning. Not a lot of CG, but like a strobe. Fun is over. Time to hit the sack.

  24. Dan (Byron Center) says:

Heard the thunder boom loudly a couple of times! We received some additional rain fall. All and all, not too bad. Giving a HUGE shout out to Rajai Davis. Grand Slam ladt night in the 9th! Way to go Tigers! Another shout out to USA soccer! Lets Go USA! Beat Belgium….I hope to hear gooooooaaaaaallll a lot just after the USA put the ball in the Belgium net!

    1. Mark (East Lansing) says:

Crazy – it was almost ten years to the day since their last walk off, which was almost ten years to the day of their last walk off.

      1. Jerrod (Hartford) says:

Honored the 30th anniversary of the 1984 World Series team last night. Thank god the storms held off there for that ceremony. Great seeing Trammell, Sweet Lou and so many from the past.

  25. Dan (Byron Center) says:

Caught a bit of the TV broadcast. Good to see Petry and Bergman in the booth. The 84 Tigers were a great team! Can’t believe none of the players are in the HOF.

  26. fixxxer says:

just as we said, the far north and south got this. not much here in gr.

  27. Craig (Holland North Sider) says:

It was weak in holland. Got a little breezy and rained some, think half an inch. It was loud for about an hour but that was it. I love how these storms are missing us this year and just giving us rain in Holland. No need for destruction here.

    1. fixxxer says:

Same just tshowers through the night. The infamous gr splt.

  28. woodchuck says:

Lots a minor wind damage here southern central hillsdale county. 2 hours to pick up. Some 2-3 dia. branches flew some 50-75 yards.. Power on!

  29. Ed (Coloma) says:

I’ve heard 18,000 -24,000 without power in Berrien County.

  30. FW says:

Berrien County is pretty bad – no power in Baroda, limited in Stevensville, St Joe, and Benton Harbor. Many trees down along Red Arrow Highway (Lakeshore Rd) from Glenlord Rd, north to St Joseph. M139 in Benton Harbor was completely without power, and not expected to get it restored until Thursday at the earliest.
