Here’s a nice screen grab from the Alpena GLERL weather station (courtesy NOAA Coastwatch) showing a few high cirrus clouds and a few lower cumulus clouds. The temperature at the Alpena GLERL station is 71°. The air temperature at the Muskegon GLERL weather station on teh beach at 1:30 pm was just 59.4°. The beach air temperature at the Holland Channel is also showing 59°. The S. Haven beach showed 67.5°. The water temperature at Holland St. Park was up 4° since yesterday to 45°, Muskegon St. Park showed 52°, Hoffmaster St. Park was 54° and Grand Haven (with maybe a bit of help from the warmer Grand River) is at 57°. The lakeshore counties stay dry and the atmosphere looks too dry for even showers to form inland this PM…slight chance.
Our low temperature in G.R. was 55° last night – 7° below average. G.R. is up to 77° at the airport (73° here at WOOD) at 1 pm, so we’ll probably get up to 82° give or take a degree. That would put us at -3° for the day. G.R. will finish with an average temp. of 68.4° or 68.5° – putting us in 4th place for coolest Julys…behind 2009, 1992, 1996 and 2000. All five of the coolest Julys have come since 1992. Only one of the five warmest Julys has come since 1955. Our highest temperature for the month was 89° on the 22nd. We had two highs of 86° and we have to go all the way down to 83° for fourth warmest high temperature for the month. G.R. had 4.42″ of rain in July and we are 2.14″ above average since June 1. The average wind will be around 7.8 mph and the average sunshine around 68%.
