The Coast Guard Festival fireworks display lasted 31 minutes and 25 seconds and contained nearly 6,000 shells. It was awesome. No fires on Dewey Hill this year (unlike 2005). We saw a dozen sky lanterns go up and did anyone else notice an object with red and occasionally blinking green lights that might have been one of those small unmanned helicopters for taking pictures? The Grand Rapids high temperature Saturday was 3 degrees higher than the next warmest temperature on the max/min. temperature table. I’ll make a guess that the GRR thermometer is reading high because we haven’t had any rain (1/10th inch in the last month) and the ground has dried out/baked out and just gets warmer. This causes the air above the ground to be warmer See if that’s the case again today and see if that difference goes away when we get a good rain. Some hail fell in Oakland and Wayne Counties on Sat.
The % chance of rain on the GFS plot for Sun. night/Monday/Tuesday is 19%/42% and 50%. On the NAM (car.) it’s 38%/48%/36%. On the GFSX the % chance of rain for Mon./Tue. is 50%, 63%. The European prints out 0.44″ of rain Mon. night, 0.12″ for Tues. and 0.01″ for Weds. (dry the rest of the week). We could use some rain.
