TV On My Time, Why I Love DVR

November 28th, 2008 at 8:12 am by Matt Schuler under Entertainment

This may step on the toes of our other entertainment writers, ala Aaron Lafferty and Avi Forstein, but I had to go on the record about my love for timeshifting TV.

So that’s just a fancy word for TIVOing or DVRing, but it truly is fantastic.

When I upgraded my TV to an HDTV, I had to dole out an extra $7 bucks a month to Comcast to get HD service.  The rep on the phone then sold me the DVR service for only $6 more.  I can say it’s the best entertainment decision I’ve ever made.

September 21st, 2008 at 3:17 pm by Avi the TV Geek under Entertainment

*** Before we start, check out my interview with TV Guide Channel’s Chris Harrison as we talk about the 2008 Emmys! http://video.woodtv.com/?video_id=14231 ***

Every year I watch the Emmys to see the best in television win awards. I keep hoping the Emmys are given to people who had a great SEASON, not just one EPISODE!!!!! I ususally don’t get to watch what I want to see. So, before the awards are handed out, let’s look at who got nominated, who I think WILL win and who I think SHOULD win.

2008 Emmy Predictions & Wishes

September 19th, 2008 at 12:54 pm by Avi the TV Geek under Entertainment

I’ve got Sunday completely free to watch the NFL and the Emmys.  However, much like Larry Figurski with the Lions, I have high hopes for success, but won’t be surprised if the awards show drops the ball this year….again!!!

Granted, this year’s Emmys will be skewed heavily because of the Writer’s Strike that basically cut the TV season into 13 weeks in the fall and 8 weeks in the spring.  So, it wouldn’t surprise me if this year’s Emmy winners come out of left field.  But, I’m expecting the usual: middle of the road favorites and movie stars who appear on TV to walk away with awards on Sunday.

Every year I watch the Emmys to see the best in television win awards.  I keep hoping the Emmys are given to people who had a great SEASON of work, not just one episode!!!! I usually don’t get to watch what I want to see.  So, before the awards are handed out, let’s look at who got nominated, who I think WILL win and who I think SHOULD win.

Review: “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” – Hard to Forget

June 8th, 2008 at 11:00 pm by Laff at the Movies under Entertainment

(RE-POSTING FROM 6/8/08)

“Forgetting Sarah Marshall” – Hard to Forget

“Forgetting Sarah Marshall” is a fun *adult*-comedy… more than just raunchy jokes and sexual inuendos from a cast of familiar young faces from many of TV’s top shows….  this ranks right up there with “There’s Something About Mary”, “Knocked Up”, and “Superbad” in R-Rated Comedies….   but I do have one problem… a problem that makes this movie fall just short of a 7/10 rating…

 “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”

starring Jason Segel (”How I Met Your Mother”), Kristen Bell (”Heroes”), Mila Kunis (”That 70’s Show”), Russell Brand, Bill Hader (“Saturday Night Live”), Jonah Hill (”Superbad”/”Knocked Up”)
