He was the voice of thousands of movie trailers… mostly the old school ones with the narrators.. you know in the 70’s and 80’s, now Don LaFontaine has passed away

If you pay any attention to movies, or TV commercials, you’ve no doubt heard Don LaFontaine’s voice…

Check out his voice out on YouTube if you can’t remember him… and he was also recently in a Geico commerical.

The Associated Press reported reported Tuesday afternoon that the 68 year old “died Monday as a result of complications from the treatment of an ongoing illness”.

I remember as a kid (I’m dating myself) hearing his voice when a movie trailer (back then, I called them “previews”) came on the screen… his voice was captivating and exciting… and even some really bad movies sounded pretty sweet thanks to his voice.

I know that movie trailers don’t use voice-over narrators as much as they used to … but today is a sad day for fans of movie trailers… Don LaFontaine… thank you for getting me interested in a lot of great and even mediocre movies… YOU WILL BE MISSED!!!
