Survival is not an option… Left 4 Dead Update

Kill or be killed. Rather, kill for as long as you can, but you're going to die eventually.

Valve continues to impress me.  The company delivers updates to games its released for free.   For Team Fortress 2, those updates come in the form of class changes, new game modes, new maps and other various goodies.  For its Left 4 Dead players, Valve’s done it again.

The Survival mode was released this past Tuesday to the PC and Xbox 360 as a free update.  What’s amazing to me, is that almost any other company would have charged for an update of this quality.  In fact, most do.  I look to Fallout 3 as a great example of a game that’s charged for updates, but Valve goes the other route.  It adds a new game mode and releases new maps for free.

The patch actually has more to offer than just a new game mode too. (more…)

Curing The Infection… Left 4 Dead Review (PC)

“Curing The Infection… One Bullet At A Time.”  That’s the tagline on one of the “movies” that you’ll play through when you load up Left 4 Dead.

The game was made by Valve, the same development house that delivered Half-Life, Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2.  All three of those games are classics in my book.  With Left 4 Dead, Valve goes 4 for 4.

Read on for my review of the game I think is probably the best of 2008.

Join The Team: Play Team Fortress 2

December 12th, 2008 at 6:46 am by Matt Schuler under Entertainment

It’s not often that I’ll come out and say this, but if you play FPS games, you should play Team Fortress 2 (or TF2.)

TF2 is a great game because it’s the one I keep coming back to.  I’ll play other games, but the large-scale team-based gameplay keeps me coming back.

Valve just released another content update for the game on the PC and they’re planning on keeping the content coming.

So here are my 5 reasons you should play.
